Cagliari has been inhabited since ancient times. It occupies a favourable position between the sea and a fertile plain, and is surrounded by two swamps (which afforded defences from enemies from inner lands) and is close to high and green mountains (to which people could evacuate if everything else was lost). The "Castello" District
The Castello district is the medieval and the oldest part of town. It’s the heart and memory of Cagliari there you can see the ruins of the massive fortification walls, the overshadowing “pisan” towers of San Pancrazio and dell’Elefante, or either walk through the ancient narrow streets where you can find the old aristocratic buildings and also lots of craftsmen’s shops among a number of crumbling buildings…

The East Coast
The east coast of Southern Sardinia is mainly design by headlands and bays.

The West Coast
The West Coast is easily reachable through the route 195 (Strada Statale 195) driving towards the pleasant little town of “Pula”, just about 35 km away from the water front in Cagliari.
The town of Pula is very well known for its famous oversize pizzas but also for its nightlife and late night shopping in summer...
